    Background: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is expected to increase from 7.7% in 2017 to 8.4%\nin 2045 worldwide. Diabetes complications contribute to morbidity and mortality. To evaluate whether the diabetes\ncomplications severity index (DCSI) was associated with increased risks of mortality and hospitalization.\nMethods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using the National Health Insurance Database (NHID)\nsample cohort of 1,102,047 patients (2002â??2015) in Korea.
